FACE BEHIND SAHARA
HI, I AM MALVIKA
I am a psychotherapist and the founder of Sahara — an integrative and trauma-informed practice built on warmth, honesty, and the belief that therapy should feel like a safe place to simply be. I created Sahara with the intention of offering a space that feels calm, supportive, and deeply human, where you can feel heard without judgment and supported without pressure.
At the core of my work is the belief that therapy should feel steady, respectful, and grounded. My intention is to offer a space where you can show up as you are, without pressure to perform or have everything figured out. I value creating an environment where trust can develop naturally, allowing therapy to become a space for reflection, understanding, and meaningful growth at your own pace.
My Approach
My approach is person-centred and client-led, which means we move at your pace and focus on what feels important to you.
I work integratively, drawing from different therapeutic approaches depending on your needs. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all model of therapy. You are unique and your therapy should reflect that.
I also recognise that opening up can take time. In our work together there is no expectation to rush the process. Therapy becomes a space to gradually understand patterns, emotions, and experiences, in a way that feels manageable and supportive. My approach allows space to gently understand your experiences, while also working towards meaningful and practical shifts where needed.
What Makes Sahara Different
Sahara is grounded in an approach that is thoughtful, culturally aware, and tailored to you.
I am a registered counsellor with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA), a governing body that sets professional and ethical standards for counselling and psychotherapy.
I place strong importance on ongoing supervision and professional development. This helps me stay accountable, reflective, and continually growing so I can offer you the best possible support.
Being based in Australia while working closely with individuals in India brings a cross-cultural sensitivity to my practice, particularly around identity, family dynamics, and the ways we make meaning of our experiences.

A Little About Me
I was born and raised in New Delhi and now live and work in Brisbane, Australia and this journey has shaped my sensitivity to culture, identity, and the different ways we make meaning of our experiences.
Outside of therapy, I enjoy the simple, grounding parts of everyday life, whether that’s going for walks on the beach, attending concerts, exploring new places to eat, or spending time with my two dogs. I bring that same grounded and human presence into the therapy space.
To me, Sahara is a space that allows for pause, reflection, and a deeper connection with yourself, at your own pace.
